Craig Thomas Wins 2017 Senior Match Play
May 10th 2017 - Roslyn, NY - After a bristling back-and-forth final match, Craig Thomas takes home the Championship with a 1-up victory over Darrell Kestner at Engineers Country Club. The two went head-to-head at in Roslyn, NY on Long Island, each defeating several other opponents before meeting in the final match. The tournament began on day one with high winds and cold temperatures, but became somewhat mild by the time Kestner and Thomas faced off for the finals. It was a good day for golf.

The two traded advantages all throughout the match, with neither holding the lead for more than a hole or two. On the fourteenth green, Thomas sank an impressively long putt to square up the match, and then gaining a one-up lead within a couple of holes. By the the time the two reached the 18th green, Thomas was one up and Kestner was faced with a long 30+ foot putt to tie the match and send it into overtime. Kestner sent his putt for the hole with surgical precision, coming to a stop just an inch right of the hole. The two shook hands and after a hard-fought match Craig Thomas was able to take home the cup.
