Global Golf Post Announces 2017 PGA-All Pro Teams
January 23rd 2017 - Winter Park, Fla. (January 23, 2017) - Rob Labritz, the Director of Golf at Glen Arbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills, NY has been selected by Global Golf Post as its 2017 “Pro’s Pro.”

“As we did for the past two years, Global Golf Post identified one professional who embodies the spirit of our All-Pro effort,” said Jim Nugent, Founder and Publisher.

Global Golf Post writer John Steinbreder points out in his profile of Labritz in Monday’s issue, “Rob has been a stalwart competitor in the Met PGA section, outperforming younger players while also holding a prestigious club job.”

Global Golf Post, the leading digital golf magazine in the world, unveiled its third annual PGA of America All-Pro Teams in this week’s issue. The 55 players, representing 30 PGA Sections, are the PGA golf professionals who posted outstanding performances in 2016. They were evaluated on good play while balancing the duties of their profession.

Several golf professionals received First Team honors for the third year in a row. Among them are Matt Dobyns (Fresh Meadow CC in Lake Success, NY), Rod Perry (Crane Lakes G&CC in Port Orange, FL), and Don Berry (Edinburgh USA CC in Brooklyn Park, MN).

Fifty-five PGA Golf Professionals were recognized for their on-course performance in 2016.  To be considered the professional had to be classified A-1 (Head Golf Professional at a golf course), A-4 (Director of Golf at a golf course), or A-13 (General Manager). The selection panel also considered performance in key competitions, including the PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship, the Professional National championship, the Senior Professional National Championship, the U.S. Open, and the U.S. Senior Open, as well as performance in section events.

Past “Pro’s Pros” honorees include Bob Ford, head golf professional at both Seminole Golf Club and Oakmont Country Club, and Bel-Air Country Club’s Dave Podas.

“They are teachers, small businessmen, tournament administrators, rules officials, employers, mentors, and knowledgeable golf equipment ambassadors. Many are very golf fashion informed, while others are asked to oversee the golf car fleet and golf bag storage area,” Nugent said. “Occasionally they even function as unlicensed psychologists, called upon to counsel struggling amateur golfers.”

He continued, “Despite that heavy workload, many of these pros play at an extremely high level, but they don’t get the recognition they deserve. Our All-Pro feature is designed to do just that—recognize the best playing golf professionals in America.”
